Podkast
For every Electe Selecteh moon I produce a podkast with one hour of music non-stop. It includes introductions by the own artists and a bit of commentary. There is a version in English and another one in Spanish (where I can speak more naturally). Same music, different commentary.
Instructions for featured artists
If you have been featured in the last Electre Selecteh blog post (the lunar selection) then your music will be also featured in the corresponding podkast. I will get in touch with you letting you know which track will be featured, and I will invite you to provide an audio introducing it.
Sending an audio(s) is totally optional, of course. These audios make the podkast (and your music) way more interesting for the listeners.
These are the technical details. It's a long list but it boils down to "the best you can do is to record 10-20 seconds spontaneously with your mobile phone":
- Audio quality: Don't sweat it, as long as you are recording your message at a decent volume in a quiet place. The mic of your mobile phone is fine too! The voice is mixed on top of your music, and basic quality sounds very good too. Any audio format is good.
- Language: English is expected by default but you can use another language too. This audio will go to the English and Spanish version. You can send me a second audio in Spanish (regardless of your fluency).
- Length: 10-20 seconds recommended, but you can go longer. In the end, it's your track. I might cut the audio to place your words better on top of the background music. I reserve the right to remove details / polish it with the goal of making you and your track sound better.
- Content:
- It would be great if you could say hello to the listeners and mention "Electre Selecteh" like in old school radio programs, but it's of course optional. There is no right or wrong way to pronouce "Electre Selecteh".
- Then introduce yourself, say the title of your track, and whatever you want to explain about it. You don't have to say on which platform(s) you can get it, I'll do that. Save your seconds of glory for a message that only you can tell.
- Effects: Dry and mono is perfect for good mixing. You can also use effects like vocoder etc to transfer your voice completely. Please avoid reverb, delay, EQ, saturation etc unless you are after something very specific. Again, I'm going to place your audio on top of your track anyway. I already use a vocal effects chain with the basics needed to make your voice to stand out on top of your music.
- Sending: Whatever works for you. The files are usually small enough to fit as an attachment via Mastodon or email. If you have a storage or you use a transfer service, that works too.
Thank you for contributing to a memorable Electre Selecteh podkast episode!
